What We Buy

Heathkit_2

In general, we typically purchase large lots or quantities, particularly from estates, moves, real estate developers, abandoned property, retiring enthusiasts, and those looking to downsize. Occasionally we purchase smaller lots or single pieces, or may offer a consignment option.

Vintage Computing from the seventies, eighties, (and in some cases) from the early nineties.

Particuarly mini and micro computers, main-frame systems and components, HP, DEC, NEC, Vax, Burroughs, IBM, AT&T, etc. Early Apple and Apple Macintosh systems, such as the Apple IIc and Apple II+ units, Lisa, Macintosh 128K, Commodore VIC-20, 16/64, Tandy TRS-80,  Atari 400/800, Honeywell, early IBM, NeXT, Silicon Graphics, Sinclear Reserach, Sun, Zenith, Texas Instruments, and so on.

Complete systems, both internal and external hard drives, keyboards, mice, peripherals are all interesting.

Consumer and Industrial Electronics

Antique, vintage, and under-appreciated electronics, including ham, shortware, and consumer radio sets, amplifiers, receivers / tuners, speakers, test equipment, discrete components such as vacuum tubes, condensers (capacitors), inductors, and relays:  Western Electric, RCA, Sears, Airline, GE, and Westinghouse

Old AT&T telecom / phone equipment, handsets, variacs, industrial electronics, lab equipment, and musical amplifers and equipment are also items we focus on.

If it has a tube in it, we may very likely purchase it.

Software and Manuals

We buy a limited amount software and manuals, that do not have license transfer restrictions, and that have the original boxes and all contents.

Software products purchased from employee stores, or most Adobe products cannot be resold.

Signage and Ephemera

We especially love old signage, installations, posters, and merchandise relating to early technology companies, such as Apple, IBM, Microsoft, Kaypro and Osborne, and electronics manufacturers like GE, Phillips, Westinghouse, and Zenith.

Any neon or lighted dealer signs related to electronics, TV, or computer sales or repair are interesting to us, too.

Please do not be offended if we cannot offer you something for what you have, particularly if it's a single item. We get many inquiries, and even though something is old, it may simply be in too bad of shape to be repaired or to have parts that could be salvaged, or not have historic or market value. There are a lot of electronics out there, and not all of it can be or should be saved! However, we often can take care of everything, including the proper disposition of unusuable electronics, so that you don't have to. In these cases, we may be able to offer free e-waste recycling services, if the items cannot be reused.

What We Don't Buy

TVs, in general, unless they are something special, like a Predicta, or some interesting smaller seventies/eighties retro pieces, and we're feeling extremely silly at the moment.

Most low-end consumer HIFI from the eighties. You know the brands: Sony, Kenwood. York. Audio video equipment such as CD, DVD and VHS players.

Most older oscilloscopes. These generally aren't very useful, even if they are working and have the probes. They aren't typically up to spec to work on more modern equipment, and would need calibration and sometimes complete re-working to make them worthwhile to use.

Most printers, copiers, fax machines, etc.
